Will the mirror from a 2nd Gen ST or a '06+ Ranger fit on a 1st Gen ST?

Will the mirror from a 2nd Gen ST or a '06+ Ranger fit on a 1st Gen ST?

I need to replace the drivers side mirror on my '03 ST and have been looking all over for one. It seems like $40 is the going rate for one anywhere. I cracked the glass a couple years back and it's time to replace it.

I found that the newer Ranger mirrors are only $21-27.

I like the look of the newer Ranger mirror because I'm used to West Coast mirrors on a Tractor-Trailer.

Since my ST is lifted I have alot of blind spots with the dinky mirrors the ST came with, I've added convex spot mirrors but they don't really help much and Carol hates how they take up have the mirror, plus cleaning them in the winter is a bitch.

I've seen a Ranger with 1 ton Dodge Ram extendable towing mirrrors on it before when I drove OTR, his ranger was lifted about 10" so I'm guessing he had the same problem I'm having.

I know the 93-10 Rangers, 95-01 Explorers, 01-03 Ex Sports and the 1st Gen ST have similair mirror mounting plates but not sure if they are interchangable. Also looking at pictures of the 2nd gen ST's they look like they ahve the same mirrors as the newer Rangers.

If anyone knows if they will work, even with a little trimming/ modifications that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

I'll do some more research to see what works and what mods I'll need to do depending on the more I choose. I'm the first to build my own swing out tire carrier, might as well be the pioneer for this too.

You're pretty darn good at this stuff Jerry. We'll see what the result is.

(I'm thinking about buying a rolled 97-98 Gen 2 5.0L Explorer, cutting it across the windshield & under the seat and grafting on a Ranger cab section and then mounting my flatbed to it. Wanna come play? See that gives me a GT40 style 5.0L HO, a 4R70W tranny. Then it's smog legal and registers it as a passenger vehicle not subject to weighted license tags. I really do not like these 4.0L SOHC motors nor the 5R55E trannys!!
On the other hand I could just go back to a F150 and pay the weight fee....but I like to be different!)
