What kind of Automatic transmission can i use on my Ford Explorer XLT 1996 2WD. I have read the forum That Ford Aerostar transmission would fit on my explorer,is this true?

1996 would be a 4R55E. Its also available in a 1995 Ford Explorer

Welcome to this forum! A Ford Ranger would have the same transmission so keep your options open when you go to a junkyard.

Can I use any other gearbox than this 4R55E.for example A4LD or 4R44E, something else?,we have really few spare parts here in finland`s junkyard.thanks for the help!

You could use a 5R55E with a few modifications. Parts are swappable between the 4R & 5R.
