Just picked up the X from the dealer. I'm very impressed so far with how much faster the system is. I even loaded my whole phone book without issue which was hit and miss with the older version.

Just noticed something....thought there was no temperature reading on the main screen anymore, but yours definitely shows a temp. What gives? In Nav it shows? I need to check mine out tomorrow.

Interesting, I didn't notice that. I think it is the car's magnetic heading, lol

I'm not sure this question was answered or not but my settings were reset after the update so I no longer had the gal's used on the trip display. At first I was a bit miffed as to why they would remove that feature until I found the setting page to chage it back.

Go to vehicle settings and the sub menu for the trip display. There is the option for the "delux" display.

No temp on mine. Maybe this is in a different vehicle?

anyone with info please respond:

I updated my MFT myself (even though it said to go to dealer) last week but like others mentioned i should still get it redone at dealer cause of a couple of issues i was having. So i went to the dealer this morn and as far as the MFT update, they didn't do anything and this is what they said: The only reason some of the earlier builds need to go to the dealer is if you NEVER had an update from the dealer before. Since my MFT was updated to 2.11 from a dealer last time, they said i didn't need it this time and they would have just done the same update as i did on my own with the usb stick. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

I asked my dealer tech and he said the reason is that some of the early builds are prone to overheating when idling for an hour. (Fan TSB we all know about).

When the dealership does it he said it allows the tech to control the fan speed manually with their tool and run it at high to cool the engine while doing the install.

He knew nothing of the extra reflash of the APIM and the software from Ford PTS site.

That doesn't sound right. If you look at the bulletin that was sent to dealers (see previous page post) you will find the following;

3. FSA 11A01 - Retail customers ineligible for self-installation who must return to the dealer for the
PERFORMANCE UPGRADE (with and without navigation)
- These customers will receive only a letter directing them to return to the dealer to have the PERFORMANCE UPGRADE performed, as they have a version of MyFord/MyLincoln Touch software which requires a system reflash administered through the dealer’s IDS tool. Dealers
will use their seed stock of SD cards for navigation-equipped units.

I don't see where it makes any mention of having previous dealer upgrades done that would counter the above instructions.
Did you print out the form on syncmyride and take it with you to give to the dealer as the site says to do?

Peter

thats pretty much what he said today!! so what is the REAL answer??? lol

I kinda believe what we heard because i updated this new MFT myself last week and besides a couple of issues that may now be solved with a reset that i did, it works fine!!!! so why would it work fine if it needed software that it didn't have, or why wouldn't ford just put that other software in the usb stick of the owners that needed it for us to do??? IDK....

I agree, it is just an issue with the cooling fans, based on owning two vehicles with MFT and the 3 month older Edge did not have to go to the dealer. I had my Explorer done at the dealer about a week ago. MFT started to glitched some this morning.

Peter, you beat me to it!

Just show your dealer that info and have them reflash with the IDS tool and then re-install.

I don't have any inside information, other than whats already been posted on this thread about 3 times which is the official communication from Ford to their dealers which says that some older Explorers need a complete reflash, and also a reminder to the dealers regarding the cooling fan issue.

So in a sense, it's both the need to reflash and monitor cooling fans.

I just scheduled an appointment for the 29th to have the upgrade done (still on V2.4) and to have the Winter wheels swapped back to the OEM's. Crazy weather! It has been in the high 70's F (25-26 C)here for much of the week and the normal temp is around 40 (5 C).
