replacing the 2000 Ranger battery cable

So, I have been looking under the hood at the pos. cable and there are numerous other cables coming from under the housing. I called the auto parts store and the cable was only 12 dollars. It just does not look like I am replacing only a cable. It looks like it is almost a harness coming off of the battery. Does anyone have more info about this before I start disconnecting everything?
Thanks

your Ford dealer has the factory type battery cable assembly for around $200 if I remember correctly.
.
why are you replacing the cables ? if it's just bad cable ends, you can replace them with a similar type strap end with a little ingenuity.
.
also, sounds like a less-than-well informed parts guy who you are dealing with.
