Droid Razr

Anyone have any new opinions? Replacing the Blackberry and moving to Verizon, so probably looking at a Moto Droid Razr. Anyone have one that can provide some insight? No, I don't want an iPhone.

I have the HTC Rezound and love it, i recommend getting that one or the galaxy nexus over the razr. Both have better cameras and upgrades over the razr.

The issue I had with T-Mobile was poor coverage at home. The Nexus didn't have much better (we have a LOT of 90+ foot-tall trees) and Verizon by far had the best, which means 1-2 bars. The Nexus had 0-1 bars, and the Razr had 2-3 bars through the same service.

I'll take a peek at the Rezound...

Thanks

Joe, a buddy of mine has the Razr and he absolutely loves it. He chose it over the iPhone.

As far as the low signal at home goes: I have Sprint and have no signal at home and do not have a land line. Sprint has provided me with the Airave at no cost to me. It's like a mini cell tower that connects to my broadband connection and provides full signal while I am in my house. It is configured so only my phone connect to it, so I don't have to worry about others hopping on my network. I'm guessing this has been provided to me at no cost because Sprint didn't want me jumping ship.

You should check and see if something like this is available to you, at no cost of course.

Not starting a debate (if it does, I'll delete my post), but I'm just curious why no iPhone?

I've been with verizon for over 10 years so this is my first iPhone and I've had motorola, glyde, other samsung phones, droid, droid 2 global (which I kind of liked) and blackberry. My iPhone kicks the shit out of all of them.

I have a bionic right now, but looking to go to the razr soon. I had an iphone up until a year go, when I switched to verizon and got a thunderbolt. Since then, Ive been all android! For me, Im a geek, so Ive been rooting my phones since around June, which is basically granting me root access to all files on my phone for complete optimization. It was a very easy process with the thunderbolt, not so much with the bionic as motorola locks their bootloader. But once that small obstacle is crossed, its smooth sailing! I have a few different roms I switch between from time to time, and as someone mentioned before, the galaxy nexus comes stock with androids latest build called ice cream sandwich. As of now, Ive been running ICS on my bionic for about 2 weeks. Its in beta testing now, which means its not perfect, but most of the major bugs have been fixed. The video camera and flash player are the major problems right now, but at the rate theyve been going, itll be fixed within a couple weeks.

So long story short, Id definitely recommend the razr! You dont have to dive in as deep as i do as it runs awesome stock, but if you want to unlock the full potential, Id say root it too! Feel free to ask me any other questions you may have and hope Ive helped your decision!

I have had my RAZR Maxx for about six weeks now, and I love it. I would definitely recommend spending the extra money to get the Maxx. I use mine quite a lot, and I can go 2 days between chargings.

We have iPhones at work, and the ones I did try didn't pull much signal at my house. I like the iPhones, but the signal thing matters to me. Also up north, my Uncle's iPhone has no signal. I live in some odd places apparently... Also, aside from MFT, I like flash while surfing. As of now, the only way to get it on an iPhone is through Adobe, and I wasn't so much into that I guess.

I looked at the Nexus, but the signal strength (along with the HTC Rezound) wouldn't let me make calls from my basement, which I had no problem with when trying the Razr... Plus, the Razr will be running ICS very soon...

I'm leaning towards the Razr for the radio strength, and the features are nice too. It's either that or a Rezound I think. I can get the Razr for less than the Nexus, and didn't see much difference (to me) in how it performed the days I had them, aside from the strength of the signal and dropped calls on the Nexus in notoriously bad areas, when the Razr kept keepin' on.

I am considering the Maxx, but honestly, my phone is usually plugged in at work anyhow. I may have to unplug for a day and see how it does on battery...

Thanks for all of the words!

Good call (no pun intended this time ) on getting rid of your Crackberry. The wifes work phone is a Crackberry and it is a POS. It won't hold a charge (hasn't since it was brand new). If you look at the phone the battery cover pops off.

Actually- I have to say that maybe I was lucky- I didn't have any real issues with it, other than a blown external speaker. That was $30 to fix, but I usually stream music when I'm at the junkyard- go figure. Other than that, it was a trooper for me- wet a bunch of times, countless drops, and it made it for a good 2 years and 3 months before it needed seemingly daily reboots to work as fast as it could. Now it will be playing games that I had loaded onto it for my son.
