Question First Explorer, First Upgrade...

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased an '08 Explorer XLT - 4.0 V6. It's my first Explorer and I'm thinking about upgrades. Not really sure where to start though. I don't have a lot of experience working on cars so I want to do something fairly basic but performance related. Although I haven't worked on cars much, I am mechanically inclined and learn quickly. I was thinking of an air intake, but after some research it seems that its mostly a waste. Any suggestions of what I should do first?

Thanks
