Brake lights staying on when car is parked
Ok so I just changed my oil and brought my car to a car wash. When i got out to wash the car I noticed my brake lights were on, keys not in the ignition and the lights were off. I played with the wire connected to the brake pedal and finally got them to go out. The wires look ok from what i can see. I played with the actuator that moves back and forth when you press the brake and I came to the conclusion that possibly it was sticking a bit so I put a little wd40 where it connects and pivots with the pedal. All is good now. I was just wondering if this happened to anyone else here? And i am afraid that it was too easy of a fix and I am going to get pulled over when I dont want to!!! lol

Some vehicles have adjustable brake pedal switches, to fine tune when the brake light triggers. I don't think that any Fords have an adjustment on the BOO switch, but I'd look at it to see if it may.
The GM S10 POS I drive at work had that issue recently, after the booster was changed. After two days of the brake lights coming on while parked, I figured it out. The dumb mechanics did not adjust the BOO switch properly, which will spin on its threaded body. I don't get paid to fix those junk mobiles(LLV's), but it was easier to do their job instead of writing it up and having the USPS spend money to send someone to figure it out etc. __________________ Don 91 Lincoln LSC/SE, 99/93 Explorer Limited 4WD, 98 AWD Mounty with 255/55/18's, big sway bars, and 12.75" x 1.25" rotors. I had my brakeswitch replaced under warranty. They do go bad. Keep an eye on it.

The contacts on the brake switches at the brake pedal do stick at times or go bad. I've read in here where some guys took theirs apart and cleaned up the contacts and lubricated them and they worked okay after that. On getting pulled over by a cop for having brake lights staying on constantly, I don't see one pulling you over for that. Cop would probably think you road the brake pedal too much, like a shaky 80+ year old man or woman driver, with that "death grip" on the steering wheel, slowly going down the road. If they didn't work/light up at all, then you better get nervous.
