Got mine in the mail today "Customer Satisfaction Program 12B36". I am due for inspection in May so will roll it into that. I do have issues from time to time where the fan is not blowing cold air, especially at idle waiting for a traffic light or something like that. It starts blowing cold again when I start moving and picking up speed. It is intermittent though....

My letter came today. "Customer Satisfaction Program"? Okaayy.
Annoying because I was just there for 2 hours with the Sync Upgrade.

Based on that symptom, you should have had the dual fans replaced long time ago! that is one symptom from the TSB back from November 2011.

I picked up my car today and among other things, they checked my cooling fans re: this recall and said they were fine. They reprogrammed them and said that they would probably run more often now.

I haven't received anything yet and that includes a letter telling me that there is an MFT update available! I don't mind too much the dealer visits too much. Get a free coffee or two and a free vehicle wash and get to hang out with the guys for a while and check out the showroom. Besides it is another excuse to get out. My last fillup was March 23rd and I still have a 1/3 of a tank of gas left.

This is a copy of what I posted on another thread regarding the 12B36 program that I had done today.

The (12B36) programming of the PCM will periodically put the fans on at high speed to prevent possible corrsion of the contacts. Apparently the fans are not always on when the engine is up to temperature as I had thought.

I was surprised to get this notice in the mail. I thought the fan issue was only on early 2011 Ex's. My 2012 build date is 11/23/2011...wierd.

I got one a notice for my 2012. I sent an appointment request in via my dealers website, but so far they have ignored it so this problem must not be a big deal (sarcasm).

Welcome to the Forum Hockey69.
Brantford, home of the famous '99'. I grew up in London, just down the road a ways.
Enjoy your EXplorer and happy motoring.

80 degree weather in Chicago yesterday. The Limited did some long ideling. Got the "overheated coolant" warning on the left side LCD screen. Goes in on May 9th for the recall. The dealership already pre-ordered my new fans, as to reduce the waiting time and a second trip in. They'll do the re-program too. Said it will take about 3 hours. No problem.

Why are ypu driving it?? The tsb specifically states Ford will pay for a loaner.. take them up on it and dont risk another overheat.

Won't drive it today. I'll be in the convertible.

Temps only escalate when it's sitting. I'm rarely in any traffic. I'm not concerned.

Had mine done yesterday morning. It's some possible plug corrosion issue. Gave me a chance to walk the lot and showroom for 45-minutes.
Noticed that some of my climate and seat memory settings were lost, but otherwise whatever was done didn't affect me.

As I mentioned above, the updated reprogram causes the fans to periodically run at high speed to reduce possible corrosion of the cooling fan contacts.
I did notice that the climate settings were changed from what they were but I didn't know about the seat memory settings. I'll have to check and reprogram them. Thanks for that info.
