yeah, use water from a garden hose and a wet/dry vac at the same time to wash it out,

Water on carpet?
Just use the shop vac, try some different ends. Got a feelin the brush tip will help pull up the sand

Salt, not sand.

I use a 50/50 mix of water and vinegar. Plain water will turn it acidic, and if you don't get up all of the water, you could have an issue with corrosion under the carpet. The vinegar breaks down the salt because vinegar is slightly acidic, and that combats the alkaline qualities of wet salt.

I would hit it with a carpet cleaning product, then rinse with a 50/50 shot of water/vinegar. Spray, agitate, let sit for a short time, then extract with a good shop vac or, if you have one, a small extractor like the Bissell 'Little Green Clean Machine' or something similar.

The vinegar will eliminate odors, as well.

We all know you did you're the reason I've done it 3 times and refuse to use a shampooer. To easy to pull the carpet out, then I don't have to worry about water being left behind and also clean UNDER the carpet. Something no shampooer can do

Joe, you have just reminded me that I need to put this on the top of my list for spring/summer projects.

Easy in mine, but these are Gen II's, I have not pulled a Gen III carpet. Either way, they're all held in with bolts and fasteners. Could be a fun spring project, and you'll notice a HUGE difference vs. just spot cleaning.

I do have some slightly-less expensive waxes for rims, door jambs, washing machines and dryers... Stuff like that...
