Question Phone Compatibility

I know there are a couple other threads on this - but I wanted some feedback.

(let me just say now that I've looked at both the older chart *and* the new chart for Sync and the phones that work with what features, etc).

So here's my question. When I went to the Sync Seminar at my dealer last week, the guy (their "Sync Specialist") said that the majority of the problems he sees are with Samsung phones with Verizon. But that Samsung doesn't seem to be a good pair with Sync.

Now - my husband and I are looking to upgrade our phones at the end of the month (smart phones) and I'm really liking a Samsung but if it's not reliable...

THAT SAID - I have a Samsung SMILE right now and it's fine - but not a smart phone.

So - I would like 2 things - if you have a samsung and you're good with MFT - can you just say so. If you're a T-Mobile carrier and have a smartphone you *LOVE* (that won't break my bank) - please say so too!

THANKS!! (Vince - I saw your post about this before with people posting what features their phone does and all - but I had a specific question. )

My wife and I both have Verizon Samsung phones that work well with the MFT. I have an Intensity and my wife has an Alias 2. I had problems with my Intensity on V2.11 and down getting it to sync the very first time, but on the new system it's been flawless.

I had all kinds of problems with my older Motorola K1m phone and my new2012 Ford Explorer with MFT. So I was in the market for a new phone but wanted to stay with Verizon and I was really hoping to stay with a basic phone too. Well there isn't much out there for basic phones and I too heard that there were issues with MFT and Samsung phones. But the Ford compatibility phone list for MFT said the Samsung Convoy 2 was compatible. So I took a chance and got the Samsung Convoy 2 and it has worked perfectly with my MFT (my MFT has the latest software updates too). My Convoy 2 syncs right away, stays connected all the time, works great with text messages and even displays contact photos!! I am also very happy since switching to the Convoy 2 because the other MFT bugs I was experiencing (radio would come on automatically or would not shut off) have gone away.

Thanks Jdraper & TRK1 for your feedback.

We're hoping to complete this at the end of May - I just hope that things work better than my Samsung Smiley from Tmobile - we'll stay with Tmobile but I'd really like a Samsung Galaxy...any model of it

FordMomof3,

You can always go to a Verizon store and ask if you can test the Galaxy in your vehicle. Most phone providers are willing to let you, as long as a sales rep goes with you

The goofs at our local Verizon store won't, but they are mostly a bunch of jerks.

I wonder if we pull the Ex really close to the store, if the bluetooth would reach? Will bluetooth reach 10-15 feet?

It should reach up to about 30 feet

^ Cool. If that is the case, then I should be able to pull the car up to one of the front spots and do what I need to do from inside the store. Thanks Rebecca!

Yes Vince like Rebecca said it should reach...which is great for testing at the store, but also at home too. The day after I got my Ex I could not find my phone for the life of me...after about half hour I thought 'hmmm...I wonder'. Sure enough I went to the Ex and was able to call someone so that they could call me so I could find the dang thing...Needless to say I found it in my (4 yo) son's room...the little stinker!!

I have the Samsung galaxy s2 from t-mobile and id say it works 95% of the time...I've had it unpair itself a couple times recently but nothing major. The text messages work thru Bluetooth. music works perfectly. i don't get the contact photos though like other phones do..

JDraper,
We just purchased a new 2013 Explorer limited. We can not get my wife's intensity paired with sync. Do you have any pointers?

To follow-up (belatedly ) on my earlier post, it was a cinch pulling up to the side of the store and pairing the phones. The hardest part was keeping the sales people away!
