2002 Explorer Sport

This is by far the best thing I've ever owned. 241,000 miles today & never a problem. My question, Has everyone found these to last forever & be problem free? I feel like I'm living on borrowed time & I think I want to replace it exactly, just with a lot less miles. I'd love to hear about your 2002 Sport!

Hi Mike,

I have an 02 sport and only standard wear & tear issues but i have not nearly as many miles; do you consider yours 2nd gen or 3rd? seems like mine is a mix of the two.

Well I have no idea what generation it was. Notice I said "was"! I decided to replace it with another 2002 Explorer Sport since that one was so good to me.
Searching I found them all to have high miles. It came down to one in Vegas & one in San Diego. Leaving hot as hell Arizona, I exited the airport in San Diego. 70 degrees & a nice harbor breeze! Got a nice white one with 82,000 miles & drove it home. Sold my black one the next day. So, I got a new one but when I'm inside there's nothing new, it's just like the old one.. It's like I got mine painted & took 160,000 miles off the odometer for a total outlay of $1750.00. I am quite pleased & hope this one treats me as well as the last!
