02 Sport Trac Vibration Problem
I am trying to diagnose the problem with my Sport Trac and I could use some extra input. I have a significant vibration coming from the driver's side front wheel. I don't hear any noise when the car is driving outside the car, however the vibration is bad enough that it is loud inside the cab. Odd thing is that when I make right turns and the vehicle is weighted differently (rolls) the vibration stops until the road straightens or I come out of the turn. The vibration occurs at any speed as soon as the sport trac is in motion. I think it may be the bearing but wanted to see if anyone else had any ideas.
Thanks. |

Bad Vibrations
Check your inner tie rods they get loose and allow the wheel to shimmy back and forth not a fun thing... Jack it up one side at a time and see if you can shake the wheel left to right with out affecting the other side..

i had that same issue i made a left turn and it made a thump thump thump similar to a badly warped rotor. i had no typical bearing hum. i replaced both hub bearing assemblies and it fixed the issue.
easiest way to check is jack up one side and grab at 6'o clock and 12'o clock and push in and out if there is movement look around the backside while shaking and see if the ball joints move if they dont then its the bearing, next grab at 3 and 9' o clock shake it bck and forth if it moves then look behind the wheel and check the tie rod ends both inner and outer __________________ USAF active duty, 2A551 aerospace maintenance ![]() 05 sport trac: 4X4, 3.73 LSD, 2" torsion twist, 1.75" add a leaf, 265/75R16 MT, cb radio, overhead console, power mirror w/puddle lamps, 2nd gen radio bezel w/twin fog switch, kenwood ddx419 indash video/nav, factory explorer JBL sub mounted under seat. roamer just said exactly what i was thinking. check your tie rods. you can do this by jacking up the front and seeing if there is play in the wheel when you give it a good jiggle.
