| Ford Ranger - Mazda B-Series Forum Ford Ranger and Mazda B Series forums. The Mazda B2300 B3000 and B4000 are clones of the Ford Ranger, with all systems the same. The only differences are trim and a few body parts. This forum discusses Ford Ranger and Mazda B series specific issues. Owners of the older Mazda B2000 B2200 and B2600 are welcome as well. |

Idles around 1500 with sitting still but when driven it will be as high as 2100rpm when I go to stop. By the way it is a 4.0 manual 2wd. When I stop & apply brakes fully the rpm falls back to 1500. I haven't found any valcum leaks & the only thing that has been done was a ecu replacement back in Feb. After the ecu replacement it ran great. Really need some help guys.............

..You could do a search on here for "Idle" or "High idle" while you wait for someone to answer your question..

Try unplugging the IAC valve wire while it is running. If the idle drops , there's your problem. Fords are pretty well known for IAC failures. Don't bother trying to clean it, just get a new one.
I would also check to make sure that your throttle isn't sticking open. The throttle body could be gummed up, or the return springs could be worn and weak. This just happened to my Ranger, and I'll probably be buying a BBK replacement soon. __________________ 1999 Explorer XLT 4dr, 4.0L-SOHC, 5R55E Auto, A4WD K&N FIPK Cold Air--XCAL3 w/ custom tunes from Henson Performance On The Way: Gibson Cat-Back,U/D pulley,Professional Products Polished 70mm Throttle Body **Planned soon:80mm MAFS,Removal of the Cats,Electric Fan Best Time 15.87 e/t @ 86.6MPH in the 1/4 |
