Unhappy 93' Ranger High Idle Helppppppp!!!!!

Idles around 1500 with sitting still but when driven it will be as high as 2100rpm when I go to stop. By the way it is a 4.0 manual 2wd. When I stop & apply brakes fully the rpm falls back to 1500. I haven't found any valcum leaks & the only thing that has been done was a ecu replacement back in Feb. After the ecu replacement it ran great. Really need some help guys.............

..You could do a search on here for "Idle" or "High idle" while you wait for someone to answer your question..

Try unplugging the IAC valve wire while it is running. If the idle drops , there's your problem. Fords are pretty well known for IAC failures. Don't bother trying to clean it, just get a new one.

I would also check to make sure that your throttle isn't sticking open. The throttle body could be gummed up, or the return springs could be worn and weak. This just happened to my Ranger, and I'll probably be buying a BBK replacement soon.
