4.0 sohc interchange?

Hey everyone im sure this was gone over before but im wondering the differences between the 4.0 sohc engines from year to year if there is any? I have an 02 sport trac that needs a motor and found a 99 4.0sohc out of an explorer. both are 4x4 and 8th digit is an E. Intakes are different, dont know about exhaust manifolds etc. I havent been able to find a good answer, so I was just hoping someone could tell me. Thanks

The motor will work. But you would have to add a freeze plug at the top of the motor, between the heads to make this motor work in your 2002. Along with swapping over the wiring harness, intake, and valve covers. Also you would have to change out the Oil filter adapter. 2002 used a different thread.

I have everything else, wiring valve covers etc. from my 02. So for the freeze plug there's a hole there already it just needs to be plugged up? Most of the electrical components are in the same spot too? Thanks for the help!
