Lubricating Squeaky Door Hinges

I have a 1998 explorer with a squeaking door and wondered what do I use to lube the hinge and where do I apply it? Here are some pics of the upper and lower hinges.

What's the best thing to use and how do I get it in those tight spots? Do I spray on top of the pin hoping it works its way down or do I spray in between the 2 moving steel parts to get at the pin?

I would use a good penetrating oil ( liquid wrench) to begin with. Then use motor oil in a squirt can a couple days later. Lube ALL moving parts, and the hinges where the pins go through.

^This.

I used some White Lithium Grease spray with one of the red straws, and got all my hinges shortly after I bought my X, had it for over a year and the squeaks never came back. Wipe the excess off though, I left some runs, and they were a pain to clean after a couple weeks.

Agree. Always wondered why this stuff has to be white.
Anyone know of a clear or non white spray grease formula?

It's not really. WD40 isn't so much of a lubricant as it is a solvent and protectant. It'll temporarily stop a squeak but not for very long compared to a actual lubricant like lithium grease. And it doesn't really provide lubrication from wear like a regular lubricant.

Thank you for that info.

I just remembered, PB Blaster has come out with a dry graphite spray lubricant. It is either clear or white, I used it on some cable pulleys and it didnt make any mess that I noticed (I was up a ladder stuck in a dim corner a couple feet away from the pulleys) It didnt run or "paint" the area like the black graphite sprays do. Not sure if its better or worse. I can try it on my car door and let you guys know how it goes.
