Still a Ford lover

I have a 2011 Explorer XLT which was one of the early ones, built in 11/10. with 29000 miles on it.

The problems still needing to be fixed are,

1-Rear shock leaking but dealer says Ford will not replace unless oil is shown on the ground! Huh? He said it was leaking.
2-Front axle is bad and leaking, will be replaced.
3-Voice on MFT not working at all
4-No sync, phone will not connect to it. Phone works otherwise.
5- Radio turns on at will.

To date, these are problems that have been fixed,

1- Excess torque steer, repaired per new module.
2-New windshield, ford replaced had defects in lamination
3-2nd windshield replaced, cracked, (my insurance)
4- Seat bracket replaced per recall.
5- 1st MFT update
6- Black screen, resulting in replacement of AIPC with newest update.
7-Navigation not working, had to drive 110 miles to get replacement chip.
8- A pillar complaint, repaired but not any better.
9- A pillar, dealer replaced gaskets and all brackets.
10- A pillar applique blew off in the wind, replaced.
11-Inside mirror shaky and loose, dealer replaced.
12 Inside mirror still loose 6 months later, fixed.
13 Back up camera black screen, fixed.
14-Back up camera stays on when driving forward, fixed.
15-Outer gas door fell off when opened, took two service managers to figure that one out, very funny.

I'm sure that I've forgotten other things that went wrong.

I am afraid to keep this vehicle past the 36000 mile warranty. Maybe I am crazy but, I would like to trade it in for a 2014 Explorer.
This is my 13th new Ford and I still have a Love>>>Hate liking of this vehicle.
Ford should of held off releasing this model to fix all bugs. Instead, I am the poor soul stuck with what I consider a preproduction vehicle.

What would you folks do?

Also, Cory, could you help in getting this shock replaced under warranty?

Thanks everyone.

Jim K Aka snowbird

PS. This is the best looking and best riding vehicle I have ever owned. Grrr.

Hi Jim. It is not uncommon for 'bugs' to appear in a new vehicle and especially a new redesigned model. These problems are not always evident in the test vehicles. I have a Feb. 2011 build and the only problems I've had are a bad right sensor and the randon windshield wipe. Everything else has been good. So you see the problems do not affect all the early builds. There are many owners of these that have had very few, if any, problems and then there are those that are like yourself with many issues.
I have a 48 month lease and I took out the Lease Care ESP mainly because of all the electronics in this model. I'm leaning toward possibly buying it at lease end, depending on what is on the market at that time, and am trying to decide about changing to the Premium Care ESP package but I have to di that before the initial 3 year warranty is up.

Jim,

I’m happy to help by escalating the details up to the Customer Service Manager for your area. So I can lend a hand, please send a PM with your contact information, approximate mileage, dealer name/state, and VIN.

Thanks a lot for all you do to assist on these boards, Peter; I’m glad you love your wheels.

Cory has been very helpful in getting problems resolved. Unfortunately, like you, I have had quite a few problems, some of which can not be fixed. I have filed for arbitration, and was debating trading the vehicle in for a GMC Acadia, but I'm holding off on that.

I hope that if I win that a 2013 will not have the issues I experience with a June 2011 build.
