I was told that I had bad bushings which go between the cab and the body of the vehicle. I've got 188,000 miles on it and I've never had them replaced since I bought the vehicle which was 160,000 miles ago. The job was like $1800 bucks! I kindly said, "no thank you", and went on my way. What's the scoop on these things?

What's the worst that can happen?

Your truck will flex and you'll start to notice things being out of square or even worse, broken seams in the body welds in the cab or bed.

That sounds pretty bad but I still don't think it's $1800 bad. I could probably go somewhere else and get a better estimate to do the same thing.

The kits are only like $250 or $300. The problem is the job is pretty tedious. If you know how body lifts are installed, its the same process. Getting the body mounts loosened can be a real PITA because of rust and dirt. It would be a good weekend project though and you could keep the extra 1500 you would've paid a shop to do.

Sorry I pressed the wrong keys and didnt notice.

Yeah, this extreme heat and drought started to kill my bushings this summer, they were fine last spring. Oh well, I need to realign the body alittle anyway. Hopefully I can get to this before winter.

I ordered my daystar bushings kit, the KF04015BK....that's $130.00..apparently the dealer is short of stock, they keep changing shipping dates..will see what's next..as far as installing them, its quite easy..just a bit of patience and common sense will do it...

I rechecked how to install them, do one side at a time...As soon I get my kit and install it, will post about the procedure for the benefit of all...

luck

Bushing kits for regular 02 xls

Those kits may work on the sport tracs, but will it match up for the the 02 xls? I have spent a whole day online searching for a kit for a regular xls(non sport trac).
I really could use some help.
