Bugs out?

Does anyone know if the 97 v-6 SOHC bugs have been corrected in the 2000 vehicles. I recently bought a 2000 Explorer (my first) with the V-6 SOHC and the dealer told me the new engines are trouble free (can we trust dealers opinions?) Another question I have-what R.P.M. range is most beneficial to LONG engine life as I plan on keeping this "X" for many years. Thanks for the input.
