1999 Explorer Transfer case

Hi Everybody,
I need a replacement transfer case for my 99 Explorer Sport 4x4 aut. I have been offered a transfer case from a 97-model...but will it fit into my 99-model car? Does anyone know? Answers or guess will be much appreciated, cause I only have the offer on hand for a few days... thanks!
