There have been post and discussions on here and other sites about electric fan conversions and under drive pulleys. So, I thought I would give some actual knowledge and numbers out there from mine. I installed Steeda underdrive pulleys on a few months ago. I did feel a noticeable difference in a rolling throttle response and when accelerating from a constant cruising speed. Mileage however did not seem to really change any. I do however live in Southern California and there is a lot of stop and go and idling around. The truck did to seem to be happier or less worked when going down the highway. I then decided to convert to an electric fan. The fan I chose is from a 2005 to current Mustang. It could not have worked out more perfectly. I flipped it upside down and mounted it to the factory radiator mounting rails on each side. I even used the factory hardware in new hole locations. I used a Hypertech fan switch for a GM vehicle on the outlet side of the radiator and ran my own control harness. The fan comes on @ 175' and shuts down a 165'. My gauge runs at the same temps and is quiet too. I still have to wire in the high speed side. It will run when AC is on. The best news is. I got a 1.6 MPG average increase on my trip through California. It is a trip I have taken 100's of times and never exceeded 19.2 mpg average. On this trip even with a bit of extra weight I averaged 20.8 mpg... In my opinion it was worth the time, planning and effort. There is definitely a noticeable difference on how it climbs hills/mountains and pulls loads around also. As a note, I was in Fresno with temps hovering from 100'-104' pulling a small trailer helping a friend move his household. The truck never ran hot, acted funny or complained, it just ran flawlessly...
