Looks good... my questions are... was it a long bed, and you were looking for short bed length? Also how close is it to a short bed now?

But, looks like ya did a good job!
Pete

Matt, looks good! Have you flexed it out yet to see if you need to cut more fender yet? Also, did you find out if you are going to make it to TDS? YOU BETTER! Now that you did this mod you need to test it.

Yes the departure angle is much better in addition to shorting it we also cut the lower 6" or so of the bed off behind the rear tires as well. With out the mud flaps it will make one mean rock throwing sucker. mud flaps are still 4" to short to be legal but hopefully having them will help keep the cops looking somewhere else. Some of the other problems now with it our that the tailgate no longer opens. I need to add a 1" body lift to allow it to swing properly. Now it hits the frame. I cant cut the frame any shorter cause it is right where the shackle mounts as well. The bumper that is on there is only tempoarly. the shackle is now 2" from the back of the bumper so i hope it doesnt hit when i flex the truck.

RF,
Yes it was a long bed with a 7 foot bed. We took 14.25 inches out so know it is roughly 5'10" so a little shorter then shortbed. We decided this length because there were 2 sets of holes that had bolts that bolted the bed to the frame taht far apart so we just moved it all forward that far. I origionally wanted 12" so i could fit a short bed shell but decided to go as far as possible.

Colin. No I havent had a chance to flex the truck out yet. I will be doing it this weekend when i go to hollister sat and pismo sunday. Still dont know about tds hopefully the teacher will know more tommorow about it. I am going to do everything in my power to make it. I want to see you drive pauls explorer in the washes or even go for a ride.

This is what it looked like when we started. Note there was no second tank just the bed had a spot for it.
