What kinda digital camera you use?

I am not sure were to post this. But I figured alot of people read this. I bought a digital camera and I am very unpleased with it. I bought a Sony Cybeshot. Two reasons I am not happy with it are: 1. The batteries go dead really fast. By really fast I mean 10 min. I called Sony and they said "The techs know there is a problem, but unable to fix it". 2. When I take a pic it takes too long to take the pic. I can't hold the camera still enough to take a good pic. Were as a normal camera you hit the button and the pic takes. Were this one it take a few sec., and by the time it takes the pic it looks like I am moving. Any input would be great. I am looking to spend 300 dollars or so.

I currently have an Olympus D-370. I've been extremely pleased with it. Takes great pics. My girlfriend got it for me, so I'm unsure of the price. I think it was around 300 though

Try talking to a photo shop about the quality of the pics. What type of card does it use? I've seen high speed data cards to be used in Dig. Camera's, but never heard anything about them. Also, what type of pics are you taking? If they're action pics then there's not much you can do, but if they're still pics I'd suggest a tripod. You can get a cheap one for around $20 at Wal-Mart or at any other photo store. Does it have a built in flash? Often if theres' a lack of light then the camera has to work more to take a good picture.

Check the after market for better batteries. The batteries I use commonly last several days with heavy shooting, but I always keep some in the bag just in case.

I currently use a Cannon Pro70. I bought it off of Rick and love it! Only problem I'm having is the lack of zoom and wide angle lens. But then again, that's a problem with any digitial camera. I've got a 35mm camera when I need to use a zoom lens or am having a problem with my digitial camera.

I believe my parents have a Nikon Coolpix 775 or something like that. The only problem I have, is the size of the photo... I think it stores at like 1600x1200 er somethin huge like that... I gotta read the manual, and tune that size down... But I'm very pleased with it!

Big E - unfortunately that sounds like Sony's response to many problems with their gear. Still, you might try changing batteries. Do you know what kind are currently in there? If they're NiCads, consider replacing them with the NiMH variety. You can't recharge NiMH batteries as many times (~ 100 cycles), but they generally last a bit longer.

Another option on the power front is Rayovac's new recharger. (http://www.rayovac.com/products/recharge/recharge.shtml) It will charge both NiCad and NiMH batteries in 1 hour outside your camera, so you could always have a set ready to go.

As for the image problems you're having, it almsot sounds like a shutter problem. Do you know what mode you're in? Automatic? If not, the camera might be shooting in a slow sutter mode where it does need to be very still or the image blurs.

Hey leebo - nice shot!

Ive got an Olympus 490-Zoom... its an older model but i love it... takes great pictures!

rRFR2212.... its like that purposly... you can tune it down but if you want the quality its better to leave it big... when you shrink a picture on your PC it become sharper and clearer.. as well as if you want a large picture to print out youll have that quality.... if you turn the camera down youll lose some quality on the larger print outs.

I have a Sinar Digital back connected to my Mamiya 645 Pro TL, tethered to a mac G4. However, you'll have to tack on 2 more 0's to your $300 deal. Plus, the file sizes are 34 megs, but that's what you get for $30,000. Takes great snaps though.

I also use a Canon S100 Digital Elph, which is down to $400 now. This is great for drunk party pics as well as trail shots. It's the size of a deck of cards and captures up to 2.2megapixels. I love it, but I had to buy a 2nd battery to the tune of $45, steep, but worth it in case you are in jeopardy of missing a shot. Any other questions regarding your photography, please don't hesitate to email.

Canon Powershot S110.
2.2 megapixels
small size
metal body
64MB card (purchased separate)
$350 online
can take mini movies w/ sound

Just got it for X-mas and I love it. Don't know how i ever survived without one. Digi cameras seem expensive at first but if you don't mind having pics on the computer instead of on paper (i like that better actually) then it doesn't cost you $10 a roll (for film and processing) like a regular camera and that adds up over time. I can fit almost 750 of the highest quality pics my camera takes on one CD. Who needs film??

Panasonic PV-DV910 digital video camera (paid $400), still shots and full motion video, uses miniDV tapes for storage. i have it connected via SIIG firewire kit (paid $50 complete with S/W,cable,board), i'm just starting to get the hang of it but it's really cool - especially the video download part

I use Sony's VX-2000 MiniDV camcorder for the pictures I post:

While this camera was designed more for video quality than stills (see below for specs), it actually doesn't do too bad of a job:

With 3CCDs at 410K pixels each, it's basically equivalent to a 1.2 megapixel still camera. It stores images on memory sticks up to 128MB - you can see the purple stick at the back of the camcorder above. Again, not great quality, but it is nice having an all-in-one camera for shooting both video and stills on the trail...

Wow thanks guys for all the input. I was talking to a guy at Best Buy who has one of these cameras (Sony Cyber Shot) and he said he uses the battery pack. It lasts 1 1/2 hours. This camera has a little screen on the back of it. It think that drains the battery alot. Wholy shit....for 3000 dollars it better do the dishes also. I was looking in the 300 dollar range. LOL So I guess I will buy the battery pack for another 60 dollars. I don't think 1 1/2 hours is too bad. My camcorder don't last that long, I don't think. One more question. I want to record something on my camcorder. How do I get it on my puter?

Actually, it isn't $3000, it's $30,000. And the damn thing doesn't do the dishes! You oughtta see it though, she's a beaut! Then again, my income depends on her. You should also see the $30,000 worth of lights that go with it.

The $60 in battery pack is a worthwhile investment, and yes, the screen does drain a lot. My S100 has an option to disable the screen, perhaps yours does too. I'm always finding myself turning the camera off after each shot, turning the flash off when outdoors, all kinds of little things just to stretch the battery. Pain yes, but cheaper than film that I never have time to take to the lab and then scan when I get home. Think of it that way, and $60 doesn't seem so bad at all.

I agree with you. I will spend $60 before I will spend $30,000 on a camera. Thanks for your input. It does take great pics though.
