alright, this has been driving my crzy. anyone know why everything they announced at the games they announced in french? or some language first before they announced it in english. this doesn't seem to make sense since the games were obviously in our country and why french? i just don't get it

i was wondering the exact same thing. I could understand doing that in France or maybe even Canada but why here and why French and why first.

the official language- that would sort of explain it. but its still pretty odd. that raises the question of why FRENCH?

French is one of the two official languages of the Olympics.

Why thats so beats me??????????

Further, why it goes first.......

OK a little bit of history. The new Olympics (as opposed to the Greek Olympiades) were re-created in the late 1800's by Pierre De Coubertin. He was french, that's the reason why the only official language of the Olympics is French.
Now, English is used as the second "official" language...

Il suffit de demander...
