mcguires (sp?) leather conditioner and cleaner is supposed to be very good though

Powerwash??? I would be afraid of doing that. Most times when you spray a cars engine down a lot it wont start for a while. And with all the electronics involved today...

Anyone know if those engine cleaner sprays work good?

you cover the essentials with plastic bags

yep, with the engine cool, cover all the important stuff with plastic bags, then get a couple of those $1/can engine degreasers from autozone, spray it everywhere, let it soak for 10-15 minutes, then powerwash the crap out of it. That usually takes care of all the grease, and makes everything look like new...

i work at a detail shop now and we have a contract with 5 dealerships for their trade-ins. Down here where i go to school a lot of people live in dirt roads, so the engine compartments and NASTY. All we do is spray what is called Formula 21 (greased lightning) in there and let it sit till it dries and then wash it off and spray a water based dressing on it and it look nnniiiccceee and the water based dressing repels dirt so that is a plus. I think that the engine cleaners would end up being more expensive than a good ole bottle of purple power or greased lightning. that is just what we do.....
