It's ok. I just had a call where two people called using the speaker phone. Their question was, How do I copy and paste?

Of course I have no choice but to tell them, but not after a lenghty pause to make them realize that they just made themselves look stupid.

...or in regards to their network accounts I have had to explain that there is no such thing as a letter zero.

I don't get paid enough for this.

"my keboard isn't working!"

"check the back of the computer....is it plugged in?"

"no."

yeah, worked in tech support for 2 years so I know exactly what you guys are talking about. my all time favorite was when a lady called up asking how to get her disk out of the computer. i told her to press the eject button and she thought i was god....

Exactly!

I say reboot and they say that I'm giving them the run-a-round. Ok. How's this for a run-a-round. Click. (I wish I could hang up the phone)

Well.. you know they are getting good when they call and they tell you whats wrong and also tell you "and i already rebooted"

LOL then i go up there .. do a reboot and it works fine, and ask? u sure you rebooted...
then they ask you what that means and they think it just means to close the program and reopen it... lol

I tell ya. I can uderstand somebody that just simply does not know anything about computers. But what gets me is somehow a person calls in that's dumber then dirt. They've been living under a rock for the last 10 years and still have no idea how to tell the difference between a computer and a monitor. (Because turning your monitor off and on is not considered rebooting)
And that's not even the worst I've had. (I've perminetly blocked those out of my head) But when I'm done with a call I have no choice but to ponder what purpose could those people serve to this company. They obviously were trained to click buttons in a certain order and when something goes wrong they call for help. But then I also wonder why a monkey wasn't trained to do the same job.....huh.

I guess what gets me is just stupid people. The people that ask why wern't they notified by email when the email server went down. Or for that matter notified when anything goes down. Well, because it's not our job to tell everyone in the company every little event that happens throughout the day and keep everyone informed.

Ah, but does your company have a "using the mouse" class like the university of colorado? Man oh man...some lady actually called in to ask for one, and I was surprised as all hell to find out there actually was one. Then I began to wonder how one could use a phone to call us yet not know how to use a mouse...

Amazing, that I was walking in the building this AM and had a "Hey You" that I couldn't beleve and then find this thread...lol..

anyway this guy said that he was making his screen font's bigger and now he can't read them, he asked one of his co-workers how to make them bigger and they told him how to change the display setting... so he went from 800x600 to 1152x870.... lol.... I guess bigger is better...lol, I tried to explain to him the size's but he's convinced it's another Bill Gates screw up...lol...

Were having problems now with a file server, so we sent out a net message to the domain 3 times that it was going off line and won't be back up till COB.... guess what happend after it went offline?

yup the tech support guy's have had 200 call's in 10 min asking what happened to the file server... duh I guess people quit reading.. I don't know...lol...

This is funny. I feel for you Tech support. I have to listen to them here all day. It is amazing that they just dont pull out their hair and have a breakdown.

Though even jobs such as River Guiding in Durango have the typical moron as well.

"Are we going to get wet?" A woman asks as she is standing there in heels and makeup, and her $400 leather pants.

"Can I wear my cowboy boots."

One of the favs. "Do we end up at the same part we start." Yup, this here is a two way river.

"Who turns on the waterfalls." This ain't Disneyland lady.

"So, what elevation do Deer change into Elk?" I am not sure, but if you get to whitness it let me know, I hear it is a pretty crazy metamorphisis.

"I have been looking over the front of the raft for some time now; I just can't seem to find the tracks." Again lady this ain't Disneyland!

"Have YOU really seen the furry trout?"

"Are there really Jackalope here? We seen one at a gas station."

I have more too...just makes ya laugh!
