Video Game Pause

I am running a P2 2GHz, 512MB Ram, 64MB ATi Radeon Mobility 9000 graphics card. The other day my computer crashed (first and only crash so far) and it seems since whenever I play any computer game (NHL2003 for example) every 2 seconds or so a frame pauses before it refreshes... imagine it as totally smooth, stop, totally smooth, stop... I defragged the HD, reinstalled the video drivers. It was fine prior to the crash. The error during the crash was "Windows has (something) a hardware error and has recovered. Please restart your computer for full functional use." It's not a virus, by the way. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Is this the only game it happens with? If this is the only game then something could have been screwed up during your system crash and you can try uninstalling and reinstalling that game. If that doesnt help then try updating your video card drivers. If that doesnt help drink a beer and you might not notice it as much.

Nah it's every game. I wonder if the crash damaged the video card... Gateway has a replacement chassis on the way because of a problem with the laptop's screen, so we'll see when I get the new chassis and swap the HD if it still exists.

sounds like bad video memory. The video's built in right? if that's the case then it should fix the problem.

you might also try putting the error code in yahoo search engine or any other search engine. it might bring up some good info.

I stopped using ATI cards cause they always cause crashes. Most of the time it's the drivers and they don't update them enough.
