Leaf Spring Anti-Friction Pads - Help!
Anyone know a part number or manufacturer name for leaf spring anti-friction pads?
I tore apart my leafs while doing working on my SOA because the pads looked pretty thin, a couple of them are worn all the way through. However, I can't find them in town, or even online. Seems like it should be a pretty universal application. One of the Schucks in town thinks they used to carry them but don't anymore and is looking into ordering them for me! Even Ford can't find a p/n for them. The closest place that definitely does carry them is in Anchorage, 350 miles away... WTF! How is it always these little parts that hold up projects? Seems like the kind of thing you ought to be able to pick up anywhere... __________________ Chris 92 XL, 5.5" Superlift, 3" BL, 33 BFG ATs, Gibson Exhaust, PIAA Illumination; 35s, Taller Gears, and a 302 next ![]() ----------------------------------------------- My Explorer Forum Registry Page |

I was going to answer on your other post regarding the SOA but figured I'll do it here. You should be able to get these anti-friction pads at any of your local auto parts stores... AutoZOne, PepBoys... whatever... if there are any in the area..... or pretty much any auto shops... truck shops... they should carry these... these are regular 2.5"pads. I have also gone on without these as well and had no problems...... but you might want to do it all perfect. Center bolts... now these can be a bit tricky... I wuldn't buy anything else but factory.... cheap anyway but good quality. I have used once the ones supplied by Skyjacker and snapped both of them. In order to get these out (get leafpacks apart) you'll need an angle grinder... yeap! get this baby out and go after the bolts.... but first use something (vise or something) to hold leafs together.... otherwise you might get injured when leafs seperate.
As far as SOA??? ask away - I just finished mine yesterday... Hurray!!! |

Well I tried all of the local autoparts stores, schucks, napa, autozone, then I started trying the dealers, ford, chevy, dodge, toyota, etc. Finally I tried service stations. No one in Fairbanks sells them. Schucks said they used to carry a universal kind but don't anymore. I couldn't even find the pads online. And the spring shop in Anchorage was kinda iffy. I know they aren't required, but I hate spring slap noise...
So I salvaged as many of the stock ones as I could, and then I cut up some hard rubber bathroom tile-wall joint liner that I had laying around. Its about perfect width once you cut the lip off, and is just about the same thickness as the stock pads. Little bit of liquid nails, and its now firml pressed in between the springs. Guess I'll see how long that holds up. Thanks for the replies __________________ Chris 92 XL, 5.5" Superlift, 3" BL, 33 BFG ATs, Gibson Exhaust, PIAA Illumination; 35s, Taller Gears, and a 302 next ![]() ----------------------------------------------- My Explorer Forum Registry Page |
