Wheel bearings torq spec per size tire.
Ok tried a search and had over 700 threads. I browsed thru a few but didn't find much. I know this question has been asked many times. I'm still having my right front tire wheel bearings come loose all the time. I was hoping to get a thread going that is easy to read. What is everyone torqing there inner and outers to?? I know that if we over tighten them the bearings wont last very long and if we under tighten them the dam nuts come loose. So what torq specs is everyone using and for what size tire? Or if there is a good thread on this already just lead me to it. Thanks people.

The torque specs are different for manual or auto hubs or 2wd.
2wd: initial 17-25 ft/lbs, back off 1/2 turn, final 18-20 in/lbs Man: initial 35 ft/lbs, back off 1/4 turn, final 16 in/lbs. The outer locknut is torqued to 150 ft/lbs Auto: initial 35 ft/lbs, back off 1/4 turn, final 16 in/lbs Remember to spin your front disks while torquing as this helps in seating the bearings and don't forget the little key. If your nuts are still backing off you probably have a worn spindle. These torque values don't change with tire size but a larger tire will obviously increase the wear rate on the components. __________________ I'm more worried about our beer supply. Very nice info Bashman, thanks. I do have Warn manuals. I don't think I've been tightening the outer enough. I will double check today. Thanks again!!
