aawwww crap

Well I got my new subs the other day and I was screwing them in a screw fell in the rubber surround and poked a small hole. I sealed it from the inside and outside using super glue. Is this going to be enough or do I have to break down and buy another sub.

I was doing the same thing once but my screwdriver actually slipped and went in it. I exchanged with no problems. Good luck.

I bought the subs online and really don't want to send them back. Also I stand corrected it is a foam surround not rubber.

Just a little bit of advise that was passed down to me from my stereo buddies. Always use square head screws, never use straight or phillips. I have never had a problem with the bit jumping out of the screw in alll of my sub installs.

Problem with super glue is it gets brittle over time if not already and hard it is likely to cause more damage than prevent.

I would check a smaller local hardware store and find black rubber sealant. Sometimes the metal tube has a picture of a shoe or something on it. i would then seal it from the inside and outside.

If the hole is large you could also use a small piece of an inner tube to help patch the area. This doesnt seeem to be the case in this instance though.

Get the super glue off it asap.

Im happy with them so far. They dont have the deep low bass my 15's did but they are alot more punchy and responsive.
