anyone have sirius satelite radio?

was just curious how it is and if it sounds good. I just picked up a kenwood head unit with satelite radio on it so I wondered if anyone has it and likes it.

Mike

are you sure it has an integrated tuner? usually you have to buy an outboard tuner and antenna (often between 2 and 3 hundred bucks). then you have to subscribe. sirius has different payment options to check out too. but it's a blast, trust me

i bought the head unit, antenna , and the tuner box all in all it cost me 260 bucks with the protection plan. best buy had a deal if you buy a kenwood radio and an antenna and subscribe for a year you get the tuner for free so i thought what the heck I will try it out

My buddy has sirius and it really makes listening to the radio enjoyable again. No fuzz, all kinds of channels to choose from. My next deck will definitely be capable in the event that I ever travel and get to listen to radio!

yes they each have strong and weak points when compared to each other, but since this isn't a comparison, just enjoy! I also second odxtopic's suggestions of sites to visit. I've visited both, and they are excellent boards to visit.

In my opinion, though, I think XM has a stronger future. They've passed the one million subscriber mark, and their stock is just going up and up and up. Sirius is still getting off the ground i think, but they have plenty of potential as well. Someone's gotta compete

Black Magic, I visited your site and saw how you installed your satelite reciever unit, well I noticed that your receiver has 2 antenna plugs on it but mine only has one yellow plug whats the difference in the unit you have and mine? by the way i got everything hooked up and activated I love it so far. I went from a sony head unit to a kenwood so will I notice any difference in quality or anything? thanks for your time guys,

Mike

Not sure what the difference is. Maybe antenna type or HU type. They could have changed too. I am really not sure?!?

i believe more and more antenna manufacturers are going to a single-connector wire rather than the dual...maybe that's it. do you have the large connector? or a smaller circular one?

yes it looks to me from crutchfield's site (*ahem* ) that your tuner in fact has the newer single connector. as long as your antenna has a matching one, you're all set!!

I've had Sirius since June and would never consider listening to a commercial on my music channels again (sorry XM)! I now have 3 subscriptions. I'm also buying a couple for Christmas presents.

The music selection is great, the sound quality is very good and just enough DJ involvement to remind you you aren't listening to Musak or a juke box.
