My dull interior?

My Explorer has the medium prairie tan interior, with the center area dash just about all black. I am tired of all the dark black with no contrast so I went back to my mustang days and tried some billet stuff.
Whatcha think? Is it a good breakup, too ricey. I have not made up my mind yet, but I am beginning to get used to it.
Anyway, the billet stuff is mostly for mustangs or rangers. I already had a couple pieces from my old stang, and I ordered a couple ranger pieces.
The center area is definitely not as dull. I was hoping to find some billet foot pedals to match, but have yet to find a good fitting set. Steeda has a set for the Expedition/F-150 but I'm not sure how they would fit. The brake pedal is the same in my wife's expedition as my Explorer, but the gas pedals are different.
Just wanted to share...I'm trying to spruce the X up a bit this winter.
SO far the billet additions were: A/C controls, radio knob, lighter, door lock pins. Hoping for some white guage faces soon.
The KKM and BBK throttle body went on this week too!

Just another view...
Again hoping for some pedals and white guage faces.
BTW, the pictures were taken in a fairly dark garage with flash...so not as nice as outside light.

I think it looks good. I've been thinking about getting some of those billet goodies for my interior.

I think that if you got some white gauge plates it would look better. For now I don't think that they look like they made much of a difference. Pedals would be nice, but some of that stuff looks tacky if you get too much stuff. Especially if you go ricer and mix a million different colors.

Thanks for the replies.
I agree, too much and it begins to look ricer...and I don't want that. I just need to break up that dull black interior...a little contrast. I think I like what's there, and believe it or not, that little bit makes a fairly large difference when looking at it out in the daylight. Maybe not in the pictures, but there is a big difference. I loved the billet foot pedals I had in my stang, but only want the billet, not the painted type. Yeah, the door pins don't do a lot.
I got the stuff through UPR products...a BIG mustang supplier.
The AC knobs fit right in. The door pins fit right on. The lighter fits great, but is a little shorter than stock, so if someone wants to use it, they have to hold it in to heat, other than that it fits and looks great. They offer several designs for it...I opted for EJECT.
The large main radio knob had to be worked a little bit. It is a tad deeper than stock, so I had to sand down the inside edge with sandpaper. About 1/8 inch or so. took about 5 minutes with a drill and sand disk, and then final sanded with a flat sheet of fine paper.
Again, thanks for the comments. I promise to keep it simple without overdoing it!!!
UPR www.uprproducts.com
The AC knobs were for the ranger pickup...the rest was generic mustang.

Those look good.

You know what is weird. All day I see my white guages and HVAC Pannels. So when I see the black ones it always catches my eye. Just because to me they are different.

I hear ya.....
I suppose we can just never be satisfied. I know I am always on the lookout for something new, just to make things look a little different.
I know part of my problem is I just love tinkering with vehicles. I get such a blast going out in the garage and installing something new on the X.
This all started back with the stang. I built it up as a racer from the ground up....every inch. Once I sold it and got the X I just about went insane. I NEEDED to tinker, so I started on the Explorer...and slowly the parts are going on. I just want to make sure it does not go too far.
After driving around today I've decided that I do like the billet pieces in there. I had a few people at work ask me about them and said they thought it looked sharp. Mind you...I am 42. I'm not a young'un looking to rice out my vehicle. I just hope I can find those billet pedals?????

You are welcome.
I've used their parts back in my corrupt stang racing days. They are good quality.
BTW...the knobs have a little hole near the end that shows GREEN light through for position...similar to stock. Just a small circle of light...does not shine...just a dot.
I agree, those knobs will look great with that white face panel. That was my plan all along. I just got the knobs first.
Hope to see pictures soon!
Ken

You might want to buy a bottom center console piece and stick that on... There is someone here who is obsessed w/ making his explorer a limited explorer (those of us w/ them are special btw) and knows all the wiring etc. just do a search.

Here is what I'm talking about

NOBODY seems to ever sell the REAR leather seats though! Crud, I need to match up some rear seats now.

Thanks for all the replies!
I really wish our camera could take cleaner shots...all my new stuff really looks nice and brand spanking new in 'real world vision'!!!
The seats came out great. I cleaned them and then soaked them in leather conditioner for several days. They came a bit crusty, but after I got through with them they are soft and supple.
The guages were a pain since I have a fixed steering column to work around...but they really do look nice. Lot's of compliments at work.
The BBK throttle body is the 66mm TB made by BBK company. It is a fairly common upgrade on our 4.0L engines. It's what your air intake tube attaches to on the motor...and what opens and closes when you use your gas pedal. The BBK lets more air in since it is larger than stock.
Again, thanks for the replies. I just miss working on my Stang SOOOOO much. I got the X to be more practical (and it is), but dang...there just is not as much to tinker with!!! Engine wise that is
Thanks again,
Ken
