Tapping drain plug into front Diff?

Everyone knows getting the fluid changed in the front diff is a PITA . I know some one out there has at least tried this and was wondering if it was was possible. Is it hard to tap a drain plug in the front diff if you have the right equipment?. Whats the best place to put it.? ANyone done it yet or have any pics of one tapped? I am serious about doing this and could use the help. Thanks, Matt

I have only been under the front end of a 95+ explorer once and i dont remember what it even look's like BUT! i dont imagin a drain plug would be that hard to install, just get a decent size pipe fitting plug and the corosponding tap and have at er... my only concern would be getting drill shavings inside the pumpkin so i would highly recomend you remove the whole 3rd member first.
I was thinking about doing this on my 92's D35 TTB but i found a better soloution

I almost did the same thing when I still had my TTB under there. I was installing my front ARB and thought what the hell, why not put a drain in there. I was going to use a brass pipe fitting and drill and tap the hole but I couldn't fine the fitting I wanted at 9:30 pm so I just put the thing back together and then sold the TTB a few months later It is posible and fairly easy to do. Just make sure you mark where the crossmember is and stay away from it and you'll be golden.
