Chirping and squeling

Help,

I have a 96 X that makes a loud chirping and squeling noise which seems to come from the top of the engine. Seems like the noise comes from the throttle body. I have replaced the sep belt as part of maintance when I replaced the alt. When I replaced the alt, I inspected the tension pulley, plastic bushing is okay.

My wife has a 97 X sport and she had the same noise and I could not locate it. Sound went away after a about a month. The noise sounds like it's not going away on my though. I drive 1000 plus miles per week and need to get this fixed before monday. Any ideas? Anyone had this happen to them? Down to one day (sunday) and need to get this fixed. I have scary visions of me stuck on the highway next week because of this.

Thanks in advance!

Idle Air Control (IAC) valve is most likely the cuprit. It is a $60 part at NAPA takes 5-minutes to replace. May people clean them and reinstal. Do a search and you will find out more than you want to know.

Unclemeat,

Thanks for the tip, did the search and found out what the IAC was. Went to check on the veh and thats not it. The noise is worse so I was able to track it to the drivers side valve pan cover near the firewall. Now I'm really confused. Does this mean a valve is going bad? Why does it only do it when warmed up? Normally you hear bad valves when cold and then just clicking noise. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! Is it time to trade?
