Well I did it.... I managed to break the WELD on my radius arm that was fixed out in Moab. Just one of the welds is broken right now. Does anyone know if its possible to have that little diamond on the top of the superlift arms ground off and have a thick plate welded on there? I am thinking if I did that and cut the ears off the anti-sway bar brackets I would have mucho stronger arms that wouldn't do this sort of crap. Matt and Rick saw this weld and I am sure they will be surprised that it broke, well maybe not with the way I drive. :D

Yes.

Ryan - the newest superlift radius arms come with double thick ears on top and bottom. That's right, they weld a plate from the end of the radius arm that's about 5" long.

I try to get pic's on what's on my radius arms tonight - they are the modified ones from Superlift.

A friend of mine broke his radius arm and Superlift warranteed it. You should contact them or have the shop who sold you the lift contact them and they will send you the new updated arm.

Thanks Tom thats what I wanted to know. I knew about their warrenty. Paul, I did it that way with the drop down bracket I broke. I gotta take a pic of that with my 35 mm tonight before sending it back to them. The only problem I might have is I may go through a few grinder discs to get this one off. It was welded to the TTB arm out in moab when I broke it last time. Held up pretty dang good I think just to much stress and movement I guess. I am trying to be as cheap as I can with this front end since eventually its gonna go solid. I just gotta keep it together for a while before doing that.

Geez Ryan where the heck have you been going with this thing that your breaking all these parts? :) j/k. Good luck on gettin that thing fixed, I am QUITE suprised that that weld broke, that weld looked stronger then the steel itself! I'd say good luck reinforcing it... maybe one of the local shops can help fab up something.

I am thinking its been all the times trying to jump it going off-road. LOL Its accually only the lower weld. The upper one is still holding. I don't know HOW that broke. I was just driving along and CLUNK and I went AWWW S#!T pulled over and sure enough! LOL Its still drivable. Just can't be doing any hi-speed racing I guess.

personally..

I'd pull both arms and do them. If one side broke, the other side is just a matter of time.

So far, everyone who has the old style arms has broke. There are three versions I know of - the ones with diamonds on top, another second version with a different type of diamond, and the current version.

The current version is also a b*tch to get on on the TTB.

Another casualty

Well, I was doing a little rock climbing practice down here at Lake Moreno when I heard this pop. Got out and looked and the top ear of the driver side radius arm was no longer attatched. I was able to limp home, wondering the whole time at 25mph going down I-8 when the bottom was going to go. Luckily it held, and I was able to weld the arm back together.

The good news however though, is I called Superlift yesterday and spoke w/ Marty. He has another pair of the stronger radius arms, thats right, both sides, on the way. He doesn't even want the old ones back so I can still use the truck until they get here:D
