I won't bother showing you the before pics because I'm sure you guys have seen a stock exhaust system before :)

I had a local muffler shop install a fabbed cat back system with dual pipes. The left pipe was a pain in the ass for the guy to bend. He put on a Flowmaster 50 Delta Series Dual in/out muffler and welded a pair of oval SS tips. I'm really happy with the results!

take it easy,

T-Bone,
I sure would have had second thoughts about the Borla Catback if I could have found a shop to do a job like
that. Hows the sound, the Borla has a good rumble, similar to a 5.0 Stang. That is SWEEEET LOOKING!!!

Thanks! See, I would have statched up a Borla Cat Back system for the '00 V8 if it was available. I'm impatient, so naturaly I had some guy make on for me :) Gibson has one for that model, Charger1 has his on order, we are going to compare them when his is in.
The sound? It sounds great. A lot of rumble. Throaty idle. Its loud but not too obnoxious. Its all preference though. I 'm going to put some .wav's of the idle and throtle sounds to give an idea.
The KKM true rev went in yesterday so now it really does breath fine.
I type too much...damn...sorry, I just love Explorers and making improvments! I was driving home this evening, the sun had just come out for the first time all day, it was blinding as I headed West. I popped on my Ray Bans and tilted my head back as I drove. It wasn't until I pulled into my parking lot that I realized I had been smiling the whole time :) Thank you, sun god.

T-Bone, what size pipes are you running? 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 from the muffler?

hey man, you have the v8 or v6? or does that even matter? I'm looking at getting such a system, but monochromous told me I had to sacrifice my spare and do some hefty cutting under the rig to make the dual work.. did you hafta do anything like that? sorry monochromous, but I was hoping you were wrong on that one :)

Pipes Bent Bad

I'm just wondering if the bend on that left pipe is to bent for a good exhaust flow. I mean borla makes a big fuss about manderal bends so it must make a difference right? I ask this because i wanted a dual setup on my 97 explorer sport but the guy said that the pipes would be bent all weird and restrict the flow. So i went with the 2.5 inch in/out 2 chamber 40 series and it rumbles for a V6.

You can run dual exhaust with a V8 or V6. I have the V6 and installed a Dual out muffler with dual pipes. They were able to bend it around the spare tire with no cutting. Also, the low restrictiveness (spelling) of the high performance muffler more than compensates for the bends in the second pipe.

Go for it, it adds a nice look.

I had the same problem trying to get true dual exhaust. My muffler shop said that there wasn't enough room to put in a dual exhaust with a full size spare tire in my '98 5.0 XLT

My friedn that works at the muffler shop also told me I couldn't run true duals without getting rid of the spare. So i left ti stock with just a dynomax 2in 1out muffler. Plus I decided I didn't want to lose alot of torque anyway.

I don't run "true duals" cos theres nowhere to mount the 2nd muffler, but anyone who tells you you can't run duals w/o removing the spare doesn't know what they're talking about, I ran a dual in/out flow 50, but I've seen some people run 2 glasspack lookin ones side by side in the stock location.. its possible

I even looked and couldn't see where to run the second pipe. We didn't want to run the second one on the other side of the spare because it would be too close to the gas tank. If anyone has any pics of true duals with the spare then I would like to see them so I can get ideas.
