Does anybody have Magnecor plug wires on their Explorer? If so, what do you think of them and where did you get them?

ExploderOne,
I have Magnacor wires on my 97. They are very good and cost more than any of the other after market manufacture. Are they any better than Jacobs? to be truthful, probably not, but then they aren't any worse either. Both Jacobs and magnacor will last a very long time. I got them off their web site.

Thanks for the info Ray! :)

I called Magnecor to order the wires and they said that due to being busy they would not be able to ship the wires out for about two or three weeks. :banghead: I asked if there was any other way to get the wires and he suggested a place in CA called Orange County Speed, since they are one of Magnecor's largest retailers and would probably have the wires in stock. When I called them they said they were out of them, but could have them drop shipped to me. That way I would get them by next week. WOW! :D A whole week or two earlier than from Mangecor. My good fortune didn't end there. When I asked how much he charged for the wires and he said fifty something I almost choked on my tongue. Magnecor want's $84.25, that's a savings of around thirty dollars (I was to busy trying not to choke on my tongue to hear the exact amount for the wires) and one to two weeks earlier on shipping! The guy was real nice to deal with as well. If you are considering Mangecor plug wires for your ride I would definitely give them a call - 714-526-5696 or 714-526-5665. They have a web site as well, but it's a little sparse - http://www.ocspeed.com.

ExploderOne,

I live about 15 minutes away from Orange County Speed. When I began looking for my Magnecor wires, Magnecor suggested that I call them. I went by and while they didn't have the model in stock for my '97 XLT, they ordered them and I had them in a handful of days. These people are very nice, knowledgable and were very happy to help. And the price was many dollars below MSRP as Magnecor promised.

I've had my new wires for two years and I couldn't be happier. When I took off my old FoMoCo wires, the wires were OK but you could tell that they, along with the boots, were starting to show wear and tear. No such issues with the Magnecor wires. They reek of high quality and will probably last longer than my truck.

You're gonna like them.

Hey Nate,
Do you have the 4.oL SOHC, or the OHV?
I bought mine off Magnacors website and it costed me $117.00 (including shipping). I was wondering if there was a differance between the 2 engines, and maybe on cost less than the other. I don't see why, but you never can tell.

WHOH! I live next to OCS too!!!! Kewl! I just moved down here... so Ill have to check it out... :) Im all happy now. And wow! I have a fellow explorer freak in town. :) Maybe we will run into eachother one day.

Ray -

I have the OHV V6. The Magnecor part # is 6091, I don't know if the wires are different but there is a different part #. So they must be somewhat different.
