The four wheel drive quit working in my 92 explorer. So i got a new four wheel drive motor for my transfer case. But instead of engaging it just clicks really fast. I am wondering if i have an electrical problem somewhere

Hello!
Welcome to the site.

I had a '94 with the same problem. Turned out the motor, which operates similar to a power window motor, wasn't engaging properly. My guess is not an electrical problem - you are hearing noise, meaning there is power - but more along the lines the 4x4 motor isn't lined up properly.

Hey Slick. Welcome. I hope you didn't spend money for a new motor for no reason, cause 90% of the time it is a much simpler fix. If you haven't already seen it, the Singleton site I am attaching has a vast amount of info regarding maintenance of the older Ex's, including the T/F case. See that section and you'll find lots of great info. I suggest bookmarding the site, cause you'll probably use it again and again. Good luck with you problem! Dead Link Removed
