Anyone from your club interested in a day-long run up in Josha Tree w/me & a buddy?
My buddy Dan and I want to return to the Josha Tree National Park w/some more rigs to run the rocky trail we encountered near Old Dale Mine Road. It was about 7 miles in length, took us around 3 hours to complete, we encountered a fairly "fresh" mine where lots of activity took place up until the end of the 1970s, and isn't really messed up thanks to the conditions of the roads on the way in.
We want to make ourselves a return trip the 2nd weekend of June (the first weekend is the Baja 500!), so that's what we're looking at.
Expect there to be a trail with plenty of space for your tire placement. There are several washout sections to test your nerves, and some of the dry wash sections have a few steep hillclimbs containing technical sections due to tall, jagged rocks in the middle of the trail. Body damage didn't occur to either vehicle, although I was fortunate in one section where I bounced off of a boulder, and my rearend swung out, causing my rocker to nearly miss a large rock.
So, what do you guys think? Is your group up for a moderately intense run like this one? If you would like some JPEG images of this run, I can email them to you, and you can tell me what you think.
