Does anyone have any ideas aside from removing the panel and replacing the cylonoid? Thanks

Won't unlock from inside, outside or both?

Well there's no keyed entry outside as its the rear door on the and you can't manually or electrontically unlock it from inside so it won't open at all.

Make sure that you don't have the child safety locks enabled. Though if you can't unlock it from the front seats it's probably a problem with the electrics.

Yeah thats what i figure in order to disengage the child locks I'd have to open the door even then they shouldn't interfere with the power lock control in the drivers seat. Well thanks for your reply :)

try this

I had a similar problem with my drivers side front door this weekend. It wouldn't unlock/lock. I took the door panel apart and the lock actuator had broken the bolt that holds it to the door and i put a new bolt in there and everything works great.

I would guess the only real way to see what is going on in there is to, of course, take the door panel off. I took mine off in a matter of minutes. if you would like further instructions on how to easily take the door panel off, i am now a pro at it so let me know.

Geoff:)

PLease I just see the two screws near the handle info on how to remove the panel is precisely what i need. I bet if i clean the contacts or something. It'll work. Thank you.

Remove all the screws you see. The rest of the fasteners are just plastic push-rivets. You have to go around the edge of the door panel carefully with a screwdriver or special panel puller tool (which I recommend, $3 at Autozone).

Once all the pins are popped out, the panel can be pulled off carefully. Watch for any electrical connections that are connected to the panel.

Great I'll try it It'd be a heck of a lot easier if I could open the door first lol thx for the info.

door panel removal

1- Take off the two screws by the handle
2-little plastic trim piece right by handle pops off
3-unscrew black lock/unlock indicator on top of door panel
4-Connection for power windows switch needs to be undone.
5- like alec said, just pop off the plastic retainers, if it is the first time the panel has been taken off, they will take some force to undo.

If you need anything more, just let me know

Geoff

My bad. Had a brain lock. Was thinking you couldn't open the door, not actually get the door to unlock. Gather pulling up the knob manually doesn't work either...... It is a PIA to remove the panel w/the door closed.

Yeah I'm nervous to try. To Geoff or the other gentleman who gave instructions have you done this with the door closed? Just curious B4 i tear into it.

Well I've got the panel off ok and the actuator is working
But it seems there is some corrision in there on the mechanism which transfers energy from the actuator to the actual mechanism which unlocks. Ive soaked it all down with wd40 but nothing seems to be freed yet.
I guees I'll just let that soak for awhile and go get a fresh start after awhile.

i called ford the other day about my actuator and they told me it was 75.00 for one. They sell a whole assembly kit that is everything. For that price, i would say try everything you can before buying a new one.
