This site has a bad influence on me. I would have never even consider doing this to my Explorer if I hadn't join this site.

Painted using Cashmere Beige spray can. The original color is Light Prairie Tan but it's close enough until I get it professionally painted done at the shop.

Finish:

I am not too crazy about the wiper arm being body color though.

So, what do you guys think?

Please tell me you did paint the wiper arm? J/K

Looks nice and Clean. When/If I get mine painted, All emblems in the back are getting shaved along with the keyhole and I'm putting and "Explorer" Emblem from a '98 or newer on.

What did you have to do to get the handle the same color?

Yea....Gloss Black so they match the Windows!! It'll look really nice if you're lucky enough to have the black tint

I just sand it down with 180 grit sand paper and cleaned it thoroughly.

It'll look really nice if you're lucky enough to have the black tint

Looks good!! I am in the process of doing this exact mod right now, although I am removing the rear wiper. Hopefully by next weekend I will have some pics of it.

looks good-

I removed my emblems, key hole, t-handle, and wiper....

Its getting painted as we speak.

I however am going to put 98+ EXPLORER and LIMITED emblems back on........

I am desiding though if I want to leave them Chrome, paint them a platinum/grey color, or paint them body color (black)

i'm impressed. nice work. i'm gonna be taking off my oval emblem and replace it with a ''bullit'' emblem off a mustang and my explorer with a newer one off a 2002. this gave me some inspiration to get it done.

Not quality job one but its okay. I'm not so worried about the paint finish. I know the paint shop will take care of it. Actually, I'm thinking of priming it again and sanding it to smooth it out even more.

Should I paint the wiper arm back to black? What do you guys think of this "monochromatic" look?

i would keep it gold. gives it a smoother, more stealth look w/out shaving it.

Shaved emblems look great

I'm still not too sure about the monochromatic look though... I say definately paint the wiper arm back to black, and depending on how that looks, maybe the handle too. To me, it just looks like too much tan- like everything was molded out of one piece of material. I think getting the wiper arm back to black will help lots though. Nice job btw

Hey PUR PONY, how did you pull off removing the T-Handle? Is it still funtional somehow via remote control? Definitely need some pictures as soon as you it get back.
