Ok everyone...ive got a few questions fer y'all. I just moved from oklahoma down to florida where you dont walk outside you swim outside. now ive been here about a month and now my X is acting up in the morning. it doesnt really want to stay running and i have to stay on the gas for a few seconds and when i do let of it stumbles alot. I am hackin it all up to the humidity but im not sure where to start looking. I checked the MAS and the filiments look different than my 94 (the 94's looked like light bulb filiments...you know spiraled...and the 96 looks solid like little diodes) so im not sure if they are supposed to spiral or be solid like they look. It has a new IAC and the plugs have about 20k on them so im sure they are fine.
It only does this in the early morn when i go to work...and its not cause the engine is cold or whatever b/c on the weekends when i go out to start it later in the day it doesnt do it anywhere near as bad. And after its been running a while its ok for the most part (it will stumble and hesitate randomly usually when the humidity/heat gets up there)

Does ford have different calibrations for humid climates? I know there is a high altitude and a southwest calibration for running oxegenated gas.

I dont know...let me know what you think

Have you cleaned the MAS or just oogled at it?

just oogled at it.....the problem showed up so suddenly i just inspected to see if some florida humidity cooties started growing on it...i didnt have the junk to clean it either as i havent found all the parts places yet....anyway..i guess ill try that

oh yea and im going to to the TP "adjustment" mod or at least check it to see if that could be the case since a lean/rich problem can be exadurated by humidity

i still would be interested in knowing if there is a different calibration for humid climates if anyone has any info

I just unplug my mafsensor while its running, and it smooths out, thats how i tell that its the problem.

An the spark plugs are ok?

mmmmm......my old 94 wouldnt run w/ the mas unpluged:eek:

well i just did the TPS mod and i didnt even have to remove it....just loosen it and lightly tap it...now its right on at .965v...i may need to get a new one though as at WOT my meter indicates an open fault...i dont know if thats the signal for the computer that its WOT but i read that the max voltage was 4 and the base was to be .96 to be dead on.....crazy electronics:rolleyes:

well i guess my next move is to clean the MAS....oh yea just a side note to the 95+ owners...instead of takeing the sensor out of the body just remove the access plate off the back....will keep you from accidentally damaging the filiments.

I hope all this works cause i love this car and i really hate it when it runs crappy.

UPTATE: i went out to get some stuff to clean the MAS and wow..it idols much better...it still hesitates on take off but hopefully cleaning the MAS will take care of that
its really amazing how .05v makes such a differance on how smooth it idols...the thread that explains how to do this is in this forum but be ware that the wires explained are not the same for all vehicles cause mine werent....you just have to find the right combo by random selection (haha it doenst take that long since there are only 3 wires)
anyway....still wondering about the calibration variations and if i should get a different mas or my ECU flashed
