I searched but didn't see what I was looking for; I would like to lift the a$$ end of my mountineer to level it out with the front. I need about 2inches to do this. I know I could add a leaf, air bags, air shocks, shackels etc..
These all seem to be patches on what appeare to be bad leafs. the only have 23k on them but the stealer says their "normal". 1.5 - 2" difference between front and rear dosen't look normal to me.
So I want to see if anybody sells a 2" leaf pack that rides compareable to stock. (Gotta keep momma happy ya know)

OME (Old Man Emu) sold a leaf pack for the Explorer that lifted the end 2" but I dont know if they still sell them anymore.

contact gjarrett.. he is selling a custom made 2" leaf pack that will do what you want.

Call a few off road shops and ask them if they or they know where to get your springs re-arched for 2" lift. I'm pretty sure that would give you a similar ride.

Later
CP :D

I did call a spring shop near the house "john-r spring" they actually supply jcwhitney and a few others, they recommended addin a leaf. they also said that it would deffinatly stiffen the ride. I don't want to do that, just lift it. I actully thought about adding a block. but would rather have a new pack that does it all.

A schakle lift is what would fit your guidelines. It will lift the rear, and will not stiffen the ride much. i put the 2" Old Man Emu leaf packs on mine....it rides stiffer....but i like the added height. Also blocks will LOWER your truck, since we have a spring under axle suspension, the ranger and F150 are spring over axle so what is why blocks work for them.

Try Deaver.
They are in So. Cal. but they make custom leaf packs.
Here is their numbers Phone: (714) 542-3703 Fax: (714) 542-2898.
They make very good leaf springs.

Try TJM. They have 40mm lifted springs (just shy of 2"). I'm pretty sure you have TJM outlets in the States. I have them and they're not too bad coupled with Ranchos and they can take a load, unlike the factory springs.

old man emu part #

was " Ome 36"
this is what I use on my truck.
these are for the Explorer,you may have to adjust the torsion bars once your done.
these are heavy duty spring packs,very well made !

01EB5.0 do you have any pics of yours? Your x sounds like what I'm thinking of.
DOHH! I totaly confused myself there, your right ex's are spring under!

TJM and Old Man Emu I belive are the same company here in the states. But I'v been wrong before....

I thought about a shackel but I believe i'm running bad leafs right from the factory and a shackel would only stress the bad leafs more.

I have read many good reports about the OME suspensions and was thinking thiat would be the route to go. My biggest concern is the ride quality. This is mommas daily ride and I get it for towing on the weekends. As for stiffening the ride if I have a full tank of gas and a load of about 100lbs+ in back it will bounce off of the bump stops.:eek:

I have pics in my photo gallery (Click on the link below my name) Also i noticed you are in Michigan. I looed on mapquest and there were 2 troy michigans. I assume you live over in the suburbs of detroit? I will be in East Lansing in a few weeks...if you would want to meet me there you could see the truck and actually ride in it if you'd like. Let me know.

As for the springs...I have towed a 3,000 pound trailer and the rear hardly squats anymore..they are great with loads.

Old Man Emu is a division of A.R.B. {or vice versa ?}

yes old man emu is a division of ARB. http://www.arb.com.au/default.htm

and it was his sig that makes me think its the same company; "TJM Polished Alloy Bullbar"

I am now a little afraid, o1EB5.0 has the OME 2" pack but had to adjust the t-bars too. My intent is not to lift this but only to level the rear with the front. maybe the full add-a-leaf isn't so bad. I'm getting really confused now...

I am trying to sell my extra 2" lift spring pack for only $150. Are you interested?

jimmy,
i only had to raise the front bars about an inco or so. If you want the back to be a little higher then the front (such as in pickup trucks) you can leave the front alone. If you tow or need more weight carrying, add a leaf may help some, but something like the Old Man Emu spring packs will help a lot more. These are very tough springs. I will get you some close-up pictures if you want so you can see what I mean. They ahve "MIlitary wrap" and everything.

GJarrett;
This is something I wont be able to do until late spring or maybe after xmas. until then i'm out of $$$ if you still have them then; we'll see.

01EB5.0;
I know the reputation of OME is an excellant one and mil wrap is a nice feature too. on my mounty I need to bring the rear up an honest 1.5" to be even with the front. so 2" isn't out of the question.

I think you have convined me that a pack is the way to go, once the xmas elves finsh with my wallet :eek:

Thanks everybody

Here are the OMEs on my truck. Highly recomended! Expensive though!

how much real world lift is everybody seeing with their 2" lifts? do they settle much?

hmmm I need to measure a few x's in my travels today; that should give me an avg base to check against mine. then i'll know how much to expect for a new spring.

I've had my OME on for about a year now, prolly about 20,000 miles. They have not settled at all. the front torsion bars will settle after the adjustment, but thats easy enough. these OME are so strong and heavy duty I doubt they will ever sag or settle.

when you lift up a single leaf pack, you say to yourself, damn these thigs are heavy duty. I had me, my brother, and another 200 lb + guy sitting in the rear and there was no sag!.
