Decided to start a new thread about the mid Feb. run....

What about the weekend of the 28th? I know its at the end of Feb. but valentines day is on the 14th which might be a problem for people(or maybe not, I can go then), I'm most likely going to be gone the weekend of the 21st, and so is Diff Whack Daddy so that probably wont work. Does the 28/29th work for people? Where does everyone want to go? :)

uh oh, whos gotta winch? :D I might have to take the Ranger to that place, has anyone ever been there? My ex will be newly un-stocked(hopfully) and I can't completly beat it it's 1st non stocker run. I'm really ready to try anything, i just dont know the limits of my Ex fully yet. Rambling.....sorry.

I have a winch, but that looks pretty nasty. I am not worried about it, but I also don't want to spend the day winching everyone.

looks like fun. good chance for me to tryout my straight axe and I'm pretty sure its not all like that. I'd also be intrested in walker valley.
Evans probably has lots of snow so that could also be interesting. anyplace sounds good. I'll have my gear by then its if I can get the money for the install.

I was talking to a friend about Walker Valley the other day and he said they are cracking down on people going there and that your really not supposed to anymore, I dont know if thats true or what..... but if going there is ok, I'd be interested in it too. Otherwise, as long as Elbe isn't too rough I'm happy with that too.

edit: So I have been checking out some pictures of Elbe, and that place looks really tough, I keep seeing pics of stuck trucks(non stockers) and people talking about rescuing people:eek: (and one page was talking about a stock explorer that couldn't even make it) Just adding my "two cents"

over my head

ELbe looks like it would be way over my head.

What about going back to Tahuya since I'm stock and SnowExploder hasn't done a shake-down?

I wouldn't mind going to tahuya again, it is pretty mild and there is go arounds for most of the water/mud puddles,
Joe

If you all don't mind the g/f and my daughter tagging along for fun we are pretty open that weekend. I think my x has only been offroad once or twice since I got rid of the stock tires and such lol.
Though I suppose it found some nasties going up around darrington after the october flooding and did well for 225/70's and no lift. we affectionately dubbed her petite-pied (little foot)
Any way, Tahuya sounds like a good tame play day for the fam, not to mention a first solid axle explorer sighting if Diffwhackdaddy can make it

There are a few places at tahuya for some pucker factor and a few tight squeezes, you have a nice looking explorer remember there is always the risk of some body damage. do you have L/S? when I was up there last there was a guy in a samuri with a toddler in a kiddy seat.
Joe

I'd like to bring my 4 year old son and our dog. I'm not sure my wife will want to go.

I'll rely on you more seasoned off-roaders to help prevent body damage? (lol);)

Sadly i have 3.73 open dif:(

It's seen better days paint wise, but is still looking ok. And to be honest I haven't had any serious off road driving since hunting the lava rock deserts in Idaho 8 years ago. Crazy stuff in my dads ranger.

I would still enjoy coming out to feel out the truck on that which doesn't scare me to bad, and generally to meet folks and get a little muddy.
If it's to scary I'll take the camp stove and keep the cofee hot for y'all;) At least my g/f and kid can, who's giving me a ride in a real explorer lol:D

Any way keep me posted as it all progresses toward that date if ya don't mind a new face. (ugly one at that, with a couple cute ladies)

It would be cool to have a couple explorer widow's to even thing's out ehh?

No really that would be awesome to have another family along

Me too :D

My daughter was lookin at the pics of elbe, and exclaims, "I'm so ging there!" lol

So it sounds like the general consensus(sp?) is Tahuya for the 28th? I think its a great idea for some of our first times out/our first group run, as long as everyone else is happy.( That gives me 3 weeks to try and fininsh my truck:rolleyes: ). I dont know that area to well, what is it near? I know I have to take the ferry, but thats all I know. jrgaylor, you seem to know the area so I would assume you'll be the best at telling us where to go. :)

i'm in if I don't get my gears in. Other wise I'll probably go to evans. Does anyone mind if other vehicles come. I usualy go with some jeepers. I've been wanting to see there cj which rti at I think over 1000. I can't remember the exact number.

IMO, as long as everyone is cool and doesn't have a problem with other types of trucks besides their own, the more the merrier!

I'm OK with it

I'm cool with it as long as they don't laugh at us rookies.
