1991 Ford Ranger
Hi folks...

Whomever owed my newly purchased 1991 Ford Ranger must have been a little on the heavy side because I have about a 5 degree tilt to the left at all times. Instead of purchasing a new seat does anyone know if the passenger and drivers seats are interchangable? Can I simply swap seats?

Regards

Well, it's a common complaint with all Explorers/Rangers to sag to the left. The driver and the fuel tank are both on that side.

As far as seat swapping, do you have true bucket seats? Then it might work. I'll bet you have the 60/40 split seats, and that won't be swappable.

Search around a little here, and see what others have done for this problem.

And welcome to the board.

I put 88 escort GT seats (halo headrest-look like mini ricaro seats) in my 89 ranger. I had worn out/holes/smashed foam 60/40s and they are a direct bolt in. I just had to tap 2 (pre-existing holes) in the bottom of one seat. I used my 60/40 seat tracks, since they fit my floor board. My brother has my ranger now, but I can get pics the next time I see him if you want. It may be a few weeks though.

EDIT: Got both for $20 at a u-pull-it. :D

Ranger Seats

I don't think I have 60/40 seats...they both look fairly identical. I haven't looked at it with a great deal of detail but I'll look this week and post. Thanks for all the replys so far!!

The true bucket seats and the 60/40 use the same tracks, if I remember right. You can just swap them, but the tilt handle will be on the wrong side and you wife/girlfriend will be uncomfortable then. That may be ok for a while, but she will like salvage yard ones better. :)

okay I'm not going to start a new thread, kinda of a same type of question,, I have a 95 mazda b2300, bench seat,, springs have died on the drivers side, and i'm now sitting in what appears to be a hole. Would i be able to put ranger seats from year to year in a 60/40 style,, ? IE: put a 99 style seat in my 95 truck even w/ out the xtra space ford and mazda did in the cab? Sorry didnt wanna hi-jack this thread, just a question I have,,

To put 60/40 in your truck, you can use just about any years seats [measure across the cab first to confirm ;) ]. However, you will need the 60/40 seat tracks from you generation of ranger to fit the floor board. You might be able to "modify" the newer tracks, but its easier to just bolt in the right ones.

Disclaimer: I am not an expert. I did drive an 89 ranger for 16 years though. :D

I had a crappy wornout bench seat in my 90 F250 when I bought it. I found a used set of 60/40 seats from a 99 F150. The shape of the floor is very different between the two years, but it's not that hard to make it work.

ooooooo?,, crap i'm not much of a mechanic,, i thought all i had to do was maybe drill a couple of holes and brace it possibly ,, hmmm, is this really hard to do? very minamal knowledge of working on these things,, Actually i hope it sells, but if it doesnt i'll fix it,!!
