I'm giving you a review of my experience using 1A Auto | Aftermarket Car Parts - Buy Quality Auto Parts Online for my suspension overhaul about 2 years ago.

I took the truck for an alignment, and my guy tells me I need new ball joints and inner and outer tie rods. Maybe it's just me getting older and wiser. But every time I buy "less expensive" parts, I get burned. In 1Aauto's defense, most parts are made in Mexico or China now, even the old dependable brand names. In my opinion, dealing with Chinese parts is like going to a casino.

The Chinese can make high-quality stuff. The problem is quality varies widely from supplier to supplier and sometimes from batch to batch. Dealing with China is like a box of chocolates but with candy-shaped turds and small explosives mixed in with the chocolate. ...you never know what you're going to get.

I'm assuming my alignment guy isn't lying to me because I've dealt with him for years. He knows I do my own work. But it'll be this weekend before I have time to check. They look fine just on visual inspection, except for the swaybar links; the rubber there does have some cracking.

Assuming that I will be buying some new ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, and sway bar links, recommendations are welcome.

I literally just finished a complete front suspension rebuild this weekend. I went with moog from RockAuto. About $700. That's rotors, wheel bearings, upper and lower control arm,,, everything,,, only problems I had was one of the upper control arm bushing was pressed in a little to far,, couple whacks with rubber mallet,,and rotors rubbed abs sensor. I'm happy. Every box said made in America..

Nice

At least the boxes are made in America.

Parts choice have always been hard, the biggest key is to learn which parts are critical, and which are minor. Then you have to figure out who makes the best critical parts, which are good enough for those, and who makes good enough minor parts.

An old fender mounted solenoid is a critical part, never buy a low end brand of those, ever. The cam synchronizer in these late 90's Fords are critical, same, never buy cheap or unknown brands for those. The rotors, only cheap junk brands are to be avoided, most lesser cost rotors are good enough.

The list is long for every part possible to buy, to choose a brand etc. Moog is now a hit and miss choice, plus they do make a lower level line for suspension stuff. Ball joints are critical items, especially the lower, the uppers are minor parts. The BJ is what you make the decision on, not the bushings or main assembly. I guarantee you that Ford makes top level BJ's. I have bought several sets of Moog arms, they are easy to get from RA and many places. But if not in any rush, try the OEM LCA, with a bargain level UCA(not the cheapest crap like Detroit Axle).

The best hubs will be Ford or SKF, which I've bought the last two times. Skip the $50-$75 hubs, I would never use those.

Mevotech makes a good line of suspension parts. Their top line has nice CA's, and TRE's. I like their TRE's as much as any, other people do too. Shop for those on RA, I bought several sets of those two years ago, and used one so far.
