Are you happy with the deal? That should be the only thing that counts. When I negotiate my deals, I never take into account what others have paid because every situation is different. I figure it is a good deal if I'm satisfied with it. I don't even bother shopping around.

Everything looks fair until the document fee. Just what the hell is that?
A dealer in Washington DC used that same tactic on my daughters boyfriend on his new Focus, so it seems to be a new tactic of gaining profit by adding this angle.

I told him to go back to the dealer, and get it back.
After he talked to the sales manager, they returned that bogus charge to him when he told him the car is coming back, and he would go elsewhere.
I would suggest you do the same, because they will cave and give it back to you.

Congrats BZJam, you got a better deal than we did. Our sticker was nearly $46,000 (on a 2017 XLT w/sport appearance package) and we walked away paying about $42,500 and we were happy. And you got a better APR than us, too.

Probably could have shopped a bit more, but I don't have the greatest poker face when it comes to cars I want. haha
Hello, I'm new here and we have been negotiating with dealers. But I'm not very sure where to target at. When you said you paid $42,500, does it refer to the out door price or the price before tax and fees?

Before taxes and fees. Would have loved for it to be the out the door price, though.

Also, welcome to the forum. :)

Thank you for your prompt reply! So the OTD adds up somewhere close to the MSRP, right?

In the neighborhood, yeah. On vacation right now so I can't look at the contract, but it seems like we were below MSRP in the $800-$1,200 range before financing but after tax, title, etc.

Thank you! That's really helpful information. And enjoy your vacation~

Just thought I would put this here. Think I got a great deal. 2017 Explorer XLT, appearance package, basically every upgrade beside engine and 2nd row bucket seats. MSRP 45900. Got it for 39200. Good deal on GAP insurance and 7 year 100k warranty (after I showed him quotes from online). All in all a good deal.

Congrats on your new car! Is $39,200 before tax and fees?
