My husbands uncle has an 85 (or it could be an 84) I believe, ranger, 4x4, manual, 2.8l V6. He was driving it one day, and it acted like it had a loss of fuel, and just died. It has not started since. Turns over but will not start.

Off the top of my head, I know the carb was pulled and cleaned, spark plugs replaced, cap and rotor replaced, ignition module I think? replaced, a black box thing located on the fire wall lol, fuel pump and filter replaced, he pulled everything off the front and checked the timing gears. Sounds like it wants to start but it just wont. It is getting fuel too, but not sure if its getting enough

Can you guys shoot me some ideas on what to look for? Would this have a crank position sensor? Its getting frustrating to say the least. I just know its probably something simple and we just are not thinking of what it could be. It was running great before this happened.

Thanks! I will try to get more info if needed.
