Can anyone help explain what exactly 4WD Auto is? Is it true 4WD, or is it more or less AWD?? How is it off road, the snow, etc??

Compared to my Bronco (stock) is the 4WD system different?

Thanks for input.

4wd AUTO- is 2 wheel drive, that automaticly engages into 4wd when one of your tires starts to spin. it is basically the same as putting it into 4wd high for a quick second till you regain traction. its a simple concept based on the hall effect sensors on the wheels when one starts going faster it will engage until the tire speeds equal out, this is a awesome idea on fords part for driving in the winter and it does work well, just the borg warner case can't handle it so around 120k issues will develop. typically the shift fork in the case will snap, leaving it in 4wd then driving around will blow the case by stretching the chain and destroying the bushings. just a heads up.

more info is in the transmission/transfer case section - your case is a 4405
