On my 98 Explorer I would like to be able to select between recirculated air and outside air, especially in smoggy or dusty conditions. Is there a way to modify the climate control switch to do this? I know that either Max A/C or Off position provides recirculated air but is there a way to get recirculated air from heat or defrost?

Perhaps there is a later model Ford that has this built in and I could purchase form the dealer? Many other makes and models have this feature. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

Ford did us the insult of never giving us the choice. I would love to recirculate the air myself in heavy traffic etc.

BTW, the white vacuum line at the lowest part of the dash controls that. If an electrical vacuum switch could be found, a basic electrical switch could control it. Find that elusive small electrical vacuum switch. Regards,
