Hey guys,

Could anyone recommend a decent, modern stereo for a very not-modern 91 sport? I’m not an audiophile by any means, but after driving my DD and the wife’s Altima, both with 2 din touch screens, the old school explorer feels absolutely ancient.

Ideally I’d love a 1 DIN stereo with large 2 DIN screen, either fold out or solid. Something with Apple CarPlay, DVD compatible, and Sat-Nav. But like I said I’m not an Audio guy, so I’m not sure where to start or what brands to trust.

I can’t spend a war pension on it, but this is a lifetime vehicle so I can flex the budget a little if it means getting better quality stuff. After the head unit I’d also appreciate recommendations on both front and rear speakers.

Thanks fellas.

Just ordered a 2 DIN Android unit for my 95 Sport. Looks pretty straightforward for intallation. Maps, handsfree, apps, backup camera support. Pretty inexpensive. Not sure of 91 config for dash, but 1 DIN flipout units may be available. I think something with Android OS or with CarPlay/Android Auto support would be the best bet.
